1. Bile secretion was increased in a dose-dependent fashion by intracerebroventricular neuropeptide Y. 2. The demonstration of a central stimulation of alkaline bile flow suggests that bile secretion may be subject to central modulation. 3. Nonetheless, some studies have suggested that there is an increase in bile secretion as part of the cephalic phase. 4. Intracerebroventricular neuropeptide Y caused a dose-dependent increase in hepatic bile secretion. 5. This study shows a central stimulatory effect of neuropeptide Y on bile secretion that is mediated by the vagus nerve. |
