1.   The most common problem was pain, often due to subhepatic bile collections, or difficulties with track or drainage tubes.

2.   In no patient was there evidence of perforation, even in those in whom bile collections were found.

3.   Laparotomy was carried out under ether anesthesia and cannulation of the bile duct was performed for continuous bile collection.

4.   Subhepatic bile collections were managed by percutaneous drainage in one patient and conservatively in the other three.
