1. Jack Forbes of Wakefield had the same problem, except the green was on his ridge board, just under the ridge vent in his attic. 2. Of course, the roof boards must be cut on each side of the ridge board so the vent will actually vent the attic. 3. The movement of the rafters may be causing the ridge board to go out of level. 4. The rafters rise at an angle from the walls and joint to the ridge board at the peak. 5. Then cut out two inches of wood sheathing from each side of the ridge board. 6. There are cross-ties connecting each set of rafters in the attic, plus posts set every eight feet going from the ridge board to the attic floor. 7. There should be a two-inch-wide opening in the roof on each side of the ridge board. |
