1.   The French have just banned British pork and are still not letting in British beef.

2.   The school district banned pork from its lunches eight years ago, and this fall began a program serving halal meat, permitted under Islamic rules.

3.   Pork also was banned so as not to offend Muslims.

4.   Eating pork also is banned in Islam.

5.   And, in keeping with kosher demands, meat will be separated from dairy products and pork is banned.
