1. Alternately add dry ingredients and milk to shortening mixture. 2. Blend into shortening mixture alternately with buttermilk. 3. Add eggs to shortening mixture. 4. Add flour mixture to shortening mixture alternately with buttermilk mixture, beginning and ending with flour mixture. 5. Add alternately to shortening mixture with buttermilk. 6. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt and add to shortening mixture. 7. Mix dry ingredients and stir into shortening mixture. 8. Mix flour mixture into shortening mixture alternately with beaten egg whites. 9. On low speed, stir flour mixture into shortening mixture alternately with caramel liquid. 10. Sift flour, soda and salt together and stir into shortening mixture. |
