1. In patients in whom H pylori eradication failed, changes in juice vitamin concentrations did not differ significantly according to the final plasma value. 2. We conclude from this study that H pylori eradication enhances gastric juice ascorbate secretion, and thus increases intragastric anti-oxidant protection. 3. These were associated with successful H pylori eradication in three cases and with treatment failure in one patient. 4. Helicobacter pylori eradication heals chronic active type B gastritis and dramatically changes the natural history of duodenal ulcer disease. 5. H pylori eradication was associated with a statistically significant reduction of ulcer recurrences. 6. This study concludes that H pylori eradication considerably changes the natural history of H pylori associated gastric ulcer disease. 7. In addition, H pylori eradication speeds up ulcer healing and is associated with healing of previously refractory ulcers. 8. Thus, in addition to duodenal ulcer disease, H pylori eradication may also cure gastric ulcer disease. |
