1.   Two years after his overthrow, Eritreans voted for independence and the new Ethiopian government let the region secede.

2.   All three parties that received the letters are opposed to allowing any region to secede from Spain.

3.   It is theoretically possible for the regions to secede, but such a move requires both regional and federal approval.

4.   The agreement gives southerners more autonomy and provides for a referendum after four years in which they can decide if their large and poor region should secede.
