1.   Berner is one of thousands of Palm Beach County residents who were complaining Wednesday that the ballot layout led them to vote for the wrong presidential candidate.

2.   By this time, poll watchers, politicians and party activists were visiting polling places to stem the damage they felt was resulting from the ballot layout.

3.   Gore carried the heavily Democratic county, but some Democrats complained the ballot layout was so confusing they mistakenly voted for Pat Buchanan instead of Gore.

4.   The Sierra Club has encouraged its members who may have misvoted on Election Day because they were confused by the ballot layout to submit affidavits for lawsuits.
