1.   Some historians say settlers commonly covered adobe structures with wood, considered a more fashionable facade even though less practical in the desert.

2.   The adobe structures were turned into a dairy farm for a time, then were purchased by yeast tycoon Max Fleischmann and turned into a gun club.

3.   Hundreds of houses, mostly unstable cement and adobe structures, were damaged and some were destroyed.

4.   The buildings range from traditional adobe structures to the later Queen Anne-style homes.
