1.   Desmond Luke, a Freetown lawyer and politician, says that one government after another has simply allowed itself to be bought out by gem traders.

2.   A majority of the Muslims in Sri Lanka are involved in business, mainly as gem traders.

3.   They also increased the obligation of lawyers, bankers, accountants, art dealers, gem traders and casino operators to alert governments about dubious transactions involving their customers.

4.   A Bangkok gems trader who allegedly bought several of the items from police officials here has become a key witness in the case.
