1.   In the wheelchair competition, Julia Wallace of Roswell, Ga. dominated the swim making the transition to the hand bike ahead of Atlantans David Bailey and Scot Hollonbeck.

2.   The meet featured events in open, masters and wheelchair competition, as well as in the high school division.

3.   It was the second year the wheelchair competition was officially recognized in the race, and the first year that prize money was awarded.

4.   Twenty years after Rosie Ruiz was stripped of her title because she used a trolley as a shortcut, Marathon organizers disqualified two able-bodied racers from the wheelchair competition.
