1.   We have banned the use of veal crates, and taken action to ensure humane slaughter.

2.   Animal-welfare advocates said Thursday that Britain may legally ban the export of live calves destined for continental veal crates, despite government statements to the contrary.

4.   France will oppose a rapid ban on the use of controversial veal crates, agriculture minister Jean Puech hinted here on Tuesday.
