1.   A third rectangular panel has a strip of a pattern reminiscent of the cornice decoration which encloses the central square in mosaic B.

9.   Remove and discard thick stems, then stir half the puree into clams and serve, passing the rest at table.

10.   Trim the stem off grape leaves or cut the thick stem out if using cabbage or collard leaves.
