Meanwhile, a line of strong thunderstorms are expected to erupt Sunday afternoon and evening in the southern Mississippi valley as a cold front arrives from the west. 8. Showers will dampen the southern valleys of eastern Arizona and New Mexico. 9. Showers will develop from the central plains to the southern Mississippi valley as breezes from the Gulf of Mexico draw increasingly moist air to the north. 10.
