1.   Faced with rapidly diminishing timber reserves, the Malaysian federal government has decided to assume control over log exports from the state of Sabah.

2.   The ban on Cambodian log exports imposed by the UN Security Council is being flagrantly flouted.

3.   B.C. log exports account for less than one per cent of the provincial harvest.

4.   First Premier Prince Norodom Ranariddh said Tuesday that Cambodia must stick to a nationwide ban on log exports to meet mounting international pressure to strictly manage dwindling forests.

5.   Log exports from Cambodia last year were four times the sustainable yield recommended by the World Bank.

6.   The bank blamed the cashew fall on a decline in the world market price of cashew kernels and blamed the timber fall on government restrictions on unprocessed log exports.

7.   The government also has invited bids for an independent auditing firm to supervise log exports.

8.   The group says that while log exports to Thailand have largely been shut down, the Cambodian military continues to sell logs to Vietnam.

9.   The IMF urged Cambodia to hire an independent auditor to supervise log exports.

10.   In February Second Prime Minister Hun Sen blasted the IMF saying the government had done all it could to halt illegal log exports by sealing its border with Thailand.
