1.   Its cruiser-racer pedigree gives it a longer life than many of the new sailboats competing under grand prix or club-level handicap rules.

2.   One-design class competitions take precedence this year over boats sailing under grand prix handicap rules.

3.   Other boats race under handicap rules such as the International Measurement System and the Performance Handicap Racing Fleet.

4.   The rest of the handicap rules will remain the same.
