1. After the sound came the fireball, exploding from the elevators where jet fuel had cascaded down the shafts. 2. Diesel fuel typically has a lower sulfur content than home heating oil. 3. Ethanol is more costly to make than gasoline and the resulting fuel has less energy. 4. Fertilizer plants went idle, tractors had little fuel, irrigation pumps lacked electricity and food production plummeted. 5. In fact, regular fuel actually has more energy than premium fuel because of its burning characteristics. 6. Liquid fuels also have drawbacks. 7. Some California fuel has oxygenates throughout the year, but in most Northeastern states the additives are used in the winter months to reduce emissions of carbon monoxide. 8. The original rationale was that even after use, the fuel had enough uranium in it to be valuable. 9. Tire-derived fuel has a higher heat content per pound than the biomass sources the cogeneration plants are using. 10. But Norwegians only eat meat from the minke whales they hunt, and other fuels have long since replaced whale oil, made from blubber. |
