1.   One Democrat at the hearing, Sen. Mary Landrieu of Louisiana, made it clear she supports having a centralized waste repository.

2.   Realizing that this centralized repository was doomed, the network engineers proposed replacing the HOSTS file with a kind of distributed database.

3.   The industry says the fund is for development of a permanent repository, or at least a centralized repository, not for expenses at reactors around the country.

4.   The Virginia facility could become a centralized repository for much of this collection, the officials said.
