1.   The original building remains virtually intact and is now the administrative block of the North Wing.

2.   To this day, the building remains unfinished.

3.   Although most of the congressional office buildings have since reopened, the Hart and Longworth buildings remain closed.

4.   Although the now-abandoned buildings remain, as they do on Hart Island, they are being reclaimed by the forces of nature.

5.   And because the city was a reluctant and inefficient landlord, the buildings remained the most dilapidated in the city.
