1. Diagnoses are based on evidence accumulated about failure modes, operator observations of symptoms and historical records. 2. Sometimes doctors have to base a diagnosis on intuition as much as on scientific tests. 3. All the above diagnoses were based on standard criteria. 4. Nine patients had a diagnosis based on a small bowel full thickness biopsy. 5. The diagnosis was based on typical clinical and histological features. 6. The diagnosis was based on established criteria including a typical endoscopic appearance supported by histological findings. 7. The clinical details and follow up of the seven patients in whom the diagnosis was based on cytology alone are given in Table V. 8. This group of patients all followed a clinical course suggestive of malignancy with progressive deterioration and death in two to six months from the time of discharge. 9. Diagnosis had been based on typical clinical features, family history, increased sweat chloride concentration, and genetic analysis. |
