21. The museum quite responsibly lays out the whole attribution issue in its labels and wall texts. 22. The museum has excellent wall texts in English, written by someone with a sense of humor. 23. The show also has fine wall texts, some written by the artist, whose eloquence extends from lead and steel to language. 24. The show requires some reading of wall texts to pick up its thematic logic. 25. The wall texts are more confusing than they need to be. 26. The wall texts do not preach. 27. The wall texts also aid viewers in appreciating differences among the three groups of artworks, as well as some of the similarities among ancient island cultures. 28. The wall texts, for example, include quotes from French writers like Voltaire, Paul Verlaine, Charles Baudelaire, Andre Malraux and Albert Camus. 29. The wall text describes the different people, moving not left to right or right to left but jumping all over the picture. 30. This show has some short wall texts that give a bit of information and a caption list that is fine as far as it goes. |
