1.   The techniques involved are quite simple, although it is a good idea to practise first with spare icing if you are unused to handling icing and piping bags.

2.   Finally, wrap the ribbon around the edge of the cake drum, securing on with a little spare royal icing.

3.   When dry, carefully peel the brushes off the paper and secure on to the lid with a little spare royal icing.

4.   Secure both to the drum with a little spare royal icing.
