1.   St. Croix hoteliers were hoping millennium fever would help them recover some of the business lost in November when late-season Hurricane Lenny lashed the island.

2.   First reports said tidal waves rising up to eight feet lashed some islands in the Bay of Bengal.

3.   Heavy rain lashed the island and wind toppled trees onto power lines, causing dozens of homes to lose electricity for about an hour.

4.   If Lisa hits, it would be the third typhoon this year to lash the island.
