11.   A British embassy spokesman in Moscow also denied that the decision by Russian Prime Minister Viktor Chernomydrin not to meet the queen at the airport was a snub.

12.   The Russians sent deputy prime minister Oleg Soskovets to meet the queen when she arrived Monday on the first visit by a British monarch to Russia.

13.   On arrival here the queen was met by Governor-General Dame Catherine Tizard and Prime Minister Jim Bolger.
