1.   Behind the desk was Jim Bell, the voluble park ranger in charge of the one-room visitors center.

2.   You can pick one up near the old railroad station that has been transformed into a visitor center.

8.   Ask in the visitor center if the lava is flowing at the end of Chain of Craters Road.

9.   At Auschwitz, a photographer accompanying him was stunned to find him eating a hearty breakfast at a cafe in the visitor center.

10.   At Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area in Montana and Wyoming, the visitor center and the road to the dam are both closed, and tours have been suspended.
