3.   The Maniots lived in austere stone tower houses, the better to aim at and pick off a neighbor.

4.   The other tower houses most of the residents of Whittier, as well as City Hall, a country store, a travel agency and a church.

5.   The antenna platform at the downtown headquarters of the state telecommunications company looks like an oversized tower house.
