1.   Q. I would like to attend a sumo match, and Noh, Kabuki and Bunraku performances in Japan in May.

2.   The hinomaru flies above government offices and is used at state banquets, and Kimigayo is played at sumo matches and at Olympic medal ceremonies when Japanese athletes win.

3.   The sport has its roots in the Shinto religion and legend has it that Japanese gods used to have sumo matches between themselves.

4.   These entrances have the formality of the start of a sumo match, which is probably intentional.
