1.   After the attacks, U.S. officials initially reported a spike in seizures of narcotics smugglers attempting to move across the Mexican border.

2.   Court clerks report a spike in marriage licenses near Fort Bragg, N.C., and Fort Campbell, Ky., where Army paratroopers and Special Forces train.
