1.   Data General reported strong sales of its CLARiiON data storage systems.

2.   Many department stores reported patchy sales over Christmas.

3.   Conversely, off-licences, furniture and carpet retailers, confectionery, tobacco and newspaper retailers, and booksellers and stationers reported lower sales.

4.   The clean look of pine appeals to many householders and this factory reports high sales in pine beds.

5.   Also reporting higher sales for June were Isuzu, Kia Motors, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Porsche, Subaru of America, Suzuki, Volkswagen and Volvo.

6.   Also reporting higher sales this week were Honda, Mitsubishi, BMW, Volkswagen, Audi, Land Rover, Kia, Mercedes-Benz and Subaru.

7.   Also yesterday, General Motors Corp. and Chrysler Corp. reported weaker sales in October, though the declines were smaller than expected.

8.   Although Ford Motor Co. and General Motors Corp. were not scheduled to report January sales until Wednesday, they were also expected to show declines.

9.   Among other producers reporting sales Tuesday, the results were mixed.

10.   And analysts expect more retailers to show Olympic-related bruises when they report monthly same-store sales next week.
