1.   The referee has to see and correctly interpret extremely fast actions.

2.   The referees must have personal knowledge of the applicant and consider that he or she supports the aims of the Society.

3.   The referee has to think the way the players do.

4.   Soccer referees have a thankless task.

5.   To be an arbitrator, the referee will have to be shown, in deciding the matter between the parties, to have exercised the functions of a judge.

6.   At the County Ground... the referee had to think long and hard about allowing the game to go on... the pitch was wet and heavy...

7.   And maybe the referee still has a vital part to play as another breathtaking Anfield night unfolds.
