1. All tenants must be protected against noise, nuisance, harassment and shoddy service. 2. Also in limbo are a law that protects tenants from hasty evictions, and another that guarantees rights to tenants when their buildings are converted into co-ops or condominiums. 3. Although the present law will expire on Sunday, most tenants are protected by leases that run into the fall. 4. But the women fought all the way to state Supreme Court, claiming that their landlord was violating rent-stabilization laws protecting long-term tenants. 5. Even then, with a consent decree in place, HUD said, the agency did not protect tenants from racial and ethnic discrimination. 6.
