1. Another way to adjust the travel of the stopper is by moving the pivot rod up or down into a different hole in the clevis rod. 2. Before pushing the pivot rod back into place, inspect the two washers, or gaskets, positioned on either side of the ball-fulcrum. 3. If the stopper is attached to the pivot rod, adjustment of the rods is the only way you can get it to work again. 4. It cannot be removed from the drain until the pivot rod is pulled free. 5. Instead, the pivot rod may connect directly to a vertical rod from the lift knob. 6. It may be hard to lift because the opening for the bottom pivot rod is gunked up with dirt and oil. 7. On some sinks, the stopper only rests on the pivot rod and can easily be removed by pulling it straight up. 8. Other stoppers have a locking notch that grips the pivot rod. 9. Pulling up on the lift knob causes the pivot rod to raise on one end and pull the stopper down at the other. 10. The pivot rod has a ball positioned midpoint on its shaft. |
