1. And for peptic ulceration -- four to five times. 2. Gastrointestinal side effects, most importantly peptic ulceration, are the most common adverse reactions seen. 3. Helicobacter pylori is recognised as a significant cause of chronic antral gastritis and important in the aetiology of peptic ulceration. 4. Peptic ulceration, severe oesophagitis, erosive gastritis, and upper gastrointestinal malignancy were common findings. 5. Non-steroidal anti inflammatory drugs are associated with gastric mucosal injury that may result in peptic ulceration, upper gastrointestinal haemorrhage, and perforation. 6. A number of inherited characteristics, such as blood groups and HLA antigens, have been studied to determine the degree of association with peptic ulceration. 7. Thirty six patiens with peptic ulceration were studied before and after operation, as part of a research protocol. 8. The situation is not clear in patients receiving non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, who have a higher risk of peptic ulceration. 9. Peptic ulceration may cause chronic gastrointestinal blood loss as well as an acute bleed. |
