1. Bend the copper until it has a slight concave shape, then slip it under the overlapping shingle, concave side up, until it covers the nail head. 2. Lift the overlapping shingles around the cap, apply a generous bead of roofing cement beneath them and press in place. 3. Nailing a replacement wood shingle in place is not as simple as nailing an asphalt shingle, because you cannot bend back the overlapping shingle. 4. Rockhill has designed three metal cottages using folded metal cut into overlapping shingles to fit in with their Victorian neighbor. 5. These nails should be placed so they will be covered by the overlapping shingles. 6. Work a new shingle back in place under the overlapping shingles, fasten it with galvanized roofing nails and seal the heads with cement. |
