1. A northward retreat of the jet stream has prompted offshore breezes across the region, limiting the cooling effect of the Pacific Ocean. 2. Across New England, it will turn noticeably warmer, particularly along the coast, as offshore breezes develop. 3. Coastal New England will remain partly to mostly sunny and turn slightly warmer, with light offshore breezes. 4. Developing offshore breezes in northern California will bring sunny skies to the Coast. 5. Elsewhere, central California will remain hot as brisk offshore breezes dry and warm upon descending the Sierra Nevada. 6. Farther west, offshore breezes will bring another very warm day to much of coastal California. 7. Farther north, it will turn quite mild in Northern California amid brisk offshore breezes. 8. Farther north, offshore breezes will direct dry air toward the Northwest Coast, providing much of Washington and Oregon with mostly sunny skies and mild conditions. 9. Given the hot, dry offshore breezes blowing throughout Northern California, forestry officials are worried that the conditions could spark more wildland blazes. 10. In the West, offshore breezes will propel warm air to the California coast. |
