After the previous Hezbollah attacks, Israel also launched retaliatory strikes north of the occupied zone, but had confined its fire to targets outside populated areas. 3. Lately Hezbollah has been particularly aggressive in attacking Israeli soldiers in the occupied zone. 4. More recently, Hezbollah has shown its ability to infiltrate deep into the occupied zone and pick off militia members at will. 5. Soviet forces later attacked from the East, partitioning the country into two occupied zones. 6. The Lebanese army has now reimposed restrictions on travel to the former occupied zone, making it difficult for troublemakers to get near the border. 7. The United Nations was insisting on a peacekeeping deployment within the former occupied zone, but with Lebanese troops on the border. 8. Peres said the agreement includes no limitations on the Israeli army which operates in an occupied zone in southern Lebanon. 9. A Hezbollah statement said guerrillas also attacked a foot patrol of Israeli-allied militiamen on the edge of the occupied zone. 10. A few hours later, guerrillas fired another volley of Katyusha rockets at Israeli positions in the occupied zone, adjacent to the border with Israel. |
