1.   Find the spot where you want the inlay to go, put it down and, using a sharp marking knife, trace the outline.

2.   Following that are chapters on how to properly set up a marking knife, and then a couple of sections on Japanese chisels.

3.   Lay out the mortise carefully, using a marking knife to scribe the lines.
