1.   Among the players the assumption is that the Masters committee, having exhausted all other ways to lengthen the hole without anyone really noticing, has taken extreme measures.

2.   Although the hole is lengthened, the new angle allows more players to thread a drive into the chute.

3.   Several holes have been lengthened, and a few have been changed slightly with different angles from new tee boxes.

4.   The safe tee shot is to the right, which lengthens the hole.

5.   The changes include enlarging greens, lengthening holes and digging up and restoring long buried bunkers.
