1.   Brown fired four people -- one supervisor and three deputies -- within minutes of taking over as DeKalb interim sheriff.

2.   DeKalb Public Safety Director Thomas Brown accepted a designation as interim sheriff Friday.

3.   If Block wins, the board of supervisors will appoint an interim sheriff, taking the decision out of the hands of the voters.

4.   If Thomas Brown is chosen interim sheriff, he could take a leave from his present job, and Burgess may serve as interim public safety director.

5.   The interim sheriff has expressed sympathy for the staffers who now face the prospect of joblessness.

6.   DeKalb officials planned to name an interim sheriff on Friday to serve until an election in March.
