1.   Hong Kong imports poultry from neighboring Guangdong Province but also breeds chickens on farms in the New Territories.

2.   HONG Kong will adopt confidence-building measures before it resumes importing poultry from the mainland and starts rebuilding its own poultry industry.

3.   South Korea has imposed a ban on importing Belgian poultry, egg products and pork because of possible contamination by cancer-causing dioxin.

4.   The government has also announced it will not be importing poultry from any other country -- possibly for several weeks.

5.   The Japanese government banned poultry imports from Hong Kong on Friday, although Japan has not imported any poultry from the Chinese territory since last year.

6.   The poultry had been imported from Atlanta, Georgia, it said.
