1.   Corporate attorney Zoe Baird and U.S. District Court Judge Kimba Wood withdrew successively from consideration after investigators learned that they had employed undocumented aliens for childcare.

2.   Immigration officials said they intend to seek sanctions against businesses that employed the aliens.
