1. Prime Minister Brian Mulroney of Canada announced that Canadian development aid would be tied to progress on democratization and respect for human rights. 2. As much as developing nations may need debt relief and development aid, a prerequisite for long-term growth is full participation with the global economy and trading system. 3. At the gateway to the conference center, Denmark has mounted an exhibition on development aid. 4. A number of intermediate measures have since been suggested, including trade embargoes, targeted development aid and a crisis-response force. 5. Bush said most development aid to poor countries comes from foreign investment rather than direct loans or grants from rich countries. 6.
