1. At the same time, an energetic jet stream disturbance passing overhead, will, in combination with the April sun, further destabilize the atmosphere. 2. A few thunderstorms are possible across western Pennsylvania and southwestern New York if sufficient sunshine breaks through the clouds to warm the surface and further destabilize the atmosphere. 3. A jet stream disturbance will further destabilize the atmosphere from the Dakotas into Minnesota, raising the risk for severe storms with large hail and powerful wind gusts. 4. A vigorous jet stream passing overhead will destabilize the atmosphere, setting the stage for a few thunderstorms near the Middle Atlantic Coast. 5. Across the western Plains, partial sunshine will aid in destabilizing the atmosphere, igniting a broken line of severe thunderstorms late Saturday afternoon. 6. But the development of severe storms will depend on sufficient heating by the sun to adequately destabilize the atmosphere. 7. In turn, this low-level warming will work in tandem with high-altitude cooling associated with the jet stream disturbance to destabilize the atmosphere. 8. Isolated thunderstorms will provide spotty relief, given the lack of high-altitude cooling needed to extensively destabilize the atmosphere. 9. Potent thunderstorms are more likely to form east of the Appalachians, where ample heating by the sun combines with high humidity to destabilize the atmosphere. 10. Rain will be punctuated by thunder and lightning, but severe thunderstorms will be limited, given the lack of sunshine necessary to destabilize the atmosphere. |
