61.   The dollar fell sharply early on Wednesday after German Finance Minister Theo Waigel had implied that European central banks would not intervene to support it, dealers said.

62.   The dollar rose strongly against the mark in Europe on Monday in reponse to rumours that the US Federal reserve had intervened to support the dollar against the yen.

63.   The Iberian currencies remained stable two days after the Spanish and Portugese central banks intervened to support their currencies.

64.   The mark fell in trading to midday on Thursday and in Milan dealers said that the Bank of Italy had intervened to support the lira.

65.   The mark was also higher against the dollar which had slumped on Monday after the US Federal Reserve had intervened to support the Mexican peso.
