11.   Sow seeds in partial shade, about an inch deep in a well-draining soil, ideally an organically enriched sandy loam.

12.   The vitex likes a sandy loam and sun to partial sun.

13.   They like sandy loam, so if you have heavy, clay soil, you will have to add plenty of compost and leaf mold.

14.   They thrive in sunny sites and require lots of water throughout the growing season, but they must have well-drained sandy loam soil high in organic matter.
