14.   The Gotthard crash is the second recent Alpine tunnel disaster where Belgians have been implicated.

15.   As a result, the European Commission is in favour of reopening the alpine tunnel.

16.   New safety measures for trucks introduced in a main Swiss alpine tunnel following a fatal blaze last October are causing heavy traffic delays, local police said on Wednesday.
