11.   Polls have shown that Americans overwhelmingly approve giving women a choice of whether to abort a pregnancy.

12.   Parliament Thursday agreed compromise legislation allowing women in Germany to have an unwanted pregnancy aborted, but imposed strict limits and conditions for an operation which will remain illegal.
