1. Permits to pollute can be traded between plants, under a system initiated by the Environmental Protection Agency. 2. In addition, it is obvious that it cannot be relied on until there has been a substantial amount of trading between the same parties. 3. The decision throws into confusion the single market for free trade between EC member states. 4. Auto parts, chemicals, minerals and dry goods traded between Mexico and the United States are shipped on that line. 5. Because the big energy firms trade between themselves via proprietary networks, there is no public price for electricity in this part of the market. 6. Barter perpetuates trading between companies and individuals, but perverts the system by making it impossible for the economy to grow and for government to collect badly needed taxes. 7. Branches will make copies in exchange for blanks, but there is usually a good deal of side trading between branches and leaves. 8. Fund managers trading between, say, Frankfurt and Milan now parlay the risk from foreign-exchange volatility into about half of their returns. 9. In American working-class contexts, some ethnic slurs are often traded between members of various groups as jokes and ritual insults, and given and taken only partly hurtfully. 10. Land trades between the federal government and private developers are rare but not unprecedented. |
