1.   Gwyn Coogan just missed making the Olympic team in the marathon, finishing fourth in the trials, where the top three qualified.

2.   The top eight times qualify for the finals.

3.   The top eight will qualify for a Super Cup to be played in the first half of the following season.

4.   The top two of each group will advance to a second round, from which the top two qualify for Atlanta.
