1.   A tame Consumer Price Index report next Tuesday could diminish thoughts of a similar increase in June.

2.   The short end of the Treasury market, however, was also lower, but its losses were limited by a tame manufacturing report.

3.   Stocks were mostly lower today as a tame report on inflation only briefly eased fears that the Federal Reserve will raise interest rates.

4.   They will also be looking at some economic data, including a tame report on second-quarter employment costs.
